Lexi Wood has broken her silence on Presley Gerber’s death.
The “Summer House” star, who briefly dated Gerber in 2022, posted a lengthy tribute to her ex-boyfriend on Instagram Tuesday following his passing at age 27. Wood described the loss as difficult to capture in words, noting that friendship had remained central to their bond through every phase of their connection.
“Through every chapter and every version of our relationship, friendship was always at the core of it,” she wrote on Instagram. “Everyone who loved Presley and was loved by him knows he was one of the kindest, most open, loving and courageous people.”
Wood emphasized the depth of affection Gerber inspired in those around him. She called him “incredibly romantic and thoughtful,” adding that he was “loved so deeply” and “purely.”
The reality star also highlighted Gerber’s struggles and his willingness to be vulnerable about them. “He was also incredibly resilient,” she continued on Instagram. “He fought so hard for his life and he was brave enough to be open about that fight. More than anything, he wanted to use his story to help other people, and he did.”
Wood and Gerber had been friends for years before their romantic relationship began. In November 2022, Gerber shared a photo of the pair on social media with a caption expressing his happiness. “Guys I did it,” he wrote, per Just Jared. “I found the person that makes me the happiest I have ever been.”
The romance proved short-lived. By the following month, reports indicated the pair had ended things after recognizing their relationship was not built for the long term.
Gerber died Sunday at a rehab facility in Santa Monica, California. A 911 dispatch call indicated paramedics responded to reports of “cardiac arrest” and “overdose.” An insider said that Gerber had checked himself into the facility over the weekend, aware that he needed assistance. The source said he was “struggling with a lot of things” and wanted “so badly to be free of his addictions.”
Wood reflected on her gratitude for their time together in her Instagram post. “So many memories and so much love with him,” she added. “He will always hold such a special place in my heart, and we will all miss him forever. 🤍.”
Gerber’s family, including parents Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber and sister Kaia Gerber, released a joint statement requesting privacy. “We ask for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” the family said.
