Prime Video enthusiasts share excitement for ‘visually stunning’ series returning in 2026

Fans of Prime Video have a shared reaction as a critically acclaimed drama series is set to return for its much-anticipated third season.

The global halt caused by the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 disrupted many industries, including television and film.

Additionally, the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes contributed to delays in several shows. However, one series is finally set to make a comeback this spring, following a positive update from a network executive.

Surprisingly, fans aren’t as excited as one might expect about this announcement.

The series in question boasts a remarkable ensemble of Hollywood talent, many of whom have been involved in major projects since the conclusion of its second season in February 2022.

This extensive list of commitments is among the factors why this ‘visually stunning’ series has faced delays.

The storyline centers on a diverse group of high school students in a fictional Californian suburb. The focal point is 17-year-old Rue Bennett (Zendaya), a recovering drug addict attempting to navigate life after returning from rehab, all while facing the challenges of possible relapse and mental health issues.

Rue forms a friendship with Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer), a confident and free-spirited transgender girl who is new in town. Their relationship, which blends friendship, obsession, and longing, provides Rue with a newfound sense of purpose.

Each character in the series has their own intricate backstory, dealing with themes such as body image, abuse, perfectionism, and sexual identity.

The series in question is Euphoria, featuring a star-studded cast that includes Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Lukas Gage, and the late Angus Cloud.

In an interview with Variety last month, HBO executive Casey Bloys suggested that Euphoria would return in spring 2026, more than four years after its last airing.

However, he clarified: “We don’t have a date confirmed yet.”

Production for the third season kicked off in February, with Bloys previously confirming it will consist of eight episodes.

To date, Euphoria holds an 8.2 rating on IMDB, though fans believe it deserves a ’10/10′.

One viewer mentioned that while Euphoria’s themes can be ‘hard to watch’ at times, they still consider it ‘essential’ viewing.

Another commented: “I really enjoyed the cinematography style, some camera movements are particularly creative and the editing is out of this world.”

Despite the show’s impending return, some fans expressed their disappointment on social media.

One X (formerly Twitter) user remarked: “We’re gonna be 40 years old still watching Rue not turn in her homework.”

Another noted: “Seven years for three seasons.”

“Euphoria was great, then it became the new Stranger Things, and I mean that in the worst possible way.”

Hopefully, these eight episodes will prove to be worth the long wait.

Seasons one and two of Euphoria are currently streaming on HBO via Prime Video.
