Oakland police are not searching for any suspect after a prominent fashion executive and his wife were found fatally shot outside their Berkeley hillside home.
Bryan Walker, 61, and Michelle Walker, 63, were discovered with gunshot wounds Friday morning on Panoramic Hill, the affluent neighborhood overlooking the UC Berkeley campus. Berkeley police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:48 a.m. And performed life-saving measures on the married couple, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The pair operated Bryn Walker, a women’s fashion company with locations in Berkeley and Massachusetts. Their website described their designs as using “luxurious fabrics” aimed at “women who demand comfort, quality and easy sophistication.”
Surveillance footage captured the chilling sequence of events. The first gunshot was recorded around 10:43 a.m., followed by the sound of a man crying and screaming in what was described as a “very dramatic” scene. A second shot followed shortly after, and then silence.
Neighbor Alessandro Isolani, who lives on Panoramic Hill, confirmed what the audio picked up.
“We heard two bangs, not too far apart, one louder, the other more muffled,” Isolani said. “It’s shocking. I’ve lived up here on Panoramic Hill for 20-something years, and I have never seen any violent crime up here.”

Isolani characterized Bryan Walker as a stable presence in the tight-knit community.

“By all neighborhood accounts, [Bryan Walker is] a good guy, solid member of the community, long-term marriage,” he added.
Oakland Police Assistant Chief Casey Johnson addressed the investigation’s current direction, noting that authorities have not eliminated any possibilities regarding the circumstances of the deaths.
“We aren’t looking currently for anyone at large,” Johnson said. “There is no current threat to the neighborhood.”

The Berkeley Police Department is assisting Oakland police with the ongoing investigation. UC Berkeley police issued a community advisory following the incident, informing students that there were “no known or ongoing threats to the campus.”
The double shooting has rattled residents of the normally tranquil hillside enclave, where violent crime has been virtually unknown for decades. The quiet, tree-lined streets of Panoramic Hill sit just above the university, offering panoramic views of the Bay Area that have long attracted established professionals and academics.

The Bryn Walker brand, which the couple built together, maintained its Berkeley presence alongside its Massachusetts operations. The company emphasized natural fabrics and relaxed silhouettes in its collections, cultivating a following among customers seeking understated luxury.
Authorities have remained tight-lipped about potential motives or the precise relationship between the two gunshot wounds, though the possibility of a murder-suicide remains under active consideration as investigators work to reconstruct the final moments of the longtime married couple.
