Capri Sun enthusiasts worldwide are buzzing with excitement and concern as news circulates about a significant change the company is reportedly planning for its iconic juices.
For many, having a packed lunch featuring a Capri Sun was a delightful treat. The joy of tearing open the bright plastic packaging to reveal the familiar squishy pouch was unparalleled. The best part was undoubtedly the challenge of inserting the straw into the tiny perforated circle without it slipping or causing a juice explosion.
Unfortunately, these nostalgic moments might soon become a thing of the past.
The Instagram account Snack-o-lator, known for its reviews of snacks, food, candy, and fast food, shared an intriguing update on its page yesterday (August 29) regarding Capri Sun.
The post states: “Capri Sun is coming for the adults with new bottles that will be arriving in stores soon!
“These were announced for the upcoming National Association of Convenience Stores trade show (NACS) show [set to be held in October] and will be in three flavors (at least) to start: Fruit Punch, Strawberry Kiwi, and Pacific Cooler.
“Each bottle is 12oz and won’t need you to have to find the spot to poke the straw in and hope that it doesn’t come shooting back at you!”
It remains unclear whether these bottles will completely replace the pouches. UNILAD has reached out to Capri Sun for clarification. Meanwhile, Pop Crave reports: “Capri Sun will reduce the number of pouches and transition more to bottles starting in 2025.”
Fans of Capri Sun did not hesitate to voice their opinions on social media.
One Instagram user commented: “Simply won’t hit the same without the straw.”
A Twitter user remarked: “I feel like it’s not an exaggeration to say this is one of the most shocking product changes in the history of food & beverage.”
“There was a line. The line has been crossed. What happens next will be on Capri Sun’s conscience,” another added.
Another user noted: “Something in my brain has convinced me the taste of Capri Sun has to do with the pouch and straw. This can not be allowed.”
“The straw poking was 99.8 percent of the fun………” a fourth added.
And another lamented: “This was our childhood.”
