IHeartRadio staff members received instructions to keep K. Michelle and Angela Yee apart on July 29 when the singer visited Manhattan headquarters, with organizers placing Michelle in a different green room from the one typically used by Breakfast Club guests.
The change reportedly kept her farther from the studio where Yee records “Way Up With Angela Yee,” which airs after the morning show.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star visited iHeartRadio while promoting a new chapter in her music career.
An iHeart representative said neither woman requested security: “There were no security requests from either party, and they did not see each other while at the iHeart studios.”
Despite the company’s denial of formal precautions, the separation underscored the lingering tension between two personalities who haven’t repaired their relationship in a decade.
K. Michelle announced her first-ever full-length country album, Jesus & Whiskey, scheduled for release on October 16, with the announcement initially shared in an exclusive interview and coinciding with the release of the album’s title track.
Speaking to People in July 2026, Michelle discussed her roots: “Being a Tennessee girl, [country] is my first genre of choice, and I was always told because of other reasons, I couldn’t sing that,” She continued, “When it came down to it, I am a country singer.”
Jesus & Whiskey was produced by Kristian Bush, marking a deliberate pivot for the Memphis-born artist as she leans into her Southern roots.
The timing of her studio visit came just as the singer entered one of the biggest career pivots of her life.
Their conflict dates back to a tense 2016 interview on “The Breakfast Club”.
Michelle confronted Yee over an earlier episode in which rappers made crude remarks about the singer.
Maino and Uncle Murda appeared on The Breakfast Club and joked about rumors surrounding K. Michelle’s intimate hygiene. “She got that stink coochie,” Murda said at the time, adding, “I call it the K. Michelle sometimes I just speak what’s on my mind. I know people who did certain things with her.” K. Michelle believed Yee helped revive the rumor by bringing it up during the discussion.
K. Michelle directly confronted Yee: “What I am going to say, Angela, is that, even with you, you’re a woman. I think that I’ve been very cool and very supportive of you. The interview was over. The credits were running. You brought that back up… It didn’t get brought back up. I’d seen it. You brought it back up and then you was then all instigating when he said he’ll sleep with me, you was all like, ‘Eww, you’re nasty.'”
Pointing directly at the host, K. Michelle told her, “It was wrong, it was inappropriate, and you didn’t think.”
After the confrontation aired, Angela Yee tweeted in defense of her actions: “No one will ever bait me into an argument when those love and hip hop cameras are rolling.”
Yee remained largely silent during the exchange before later explaining on social media and in interviews that she intentionally chose not to engage because she believed K. Michelle was trying to create a dramatic reality-TV moment for Love & Hip Hop.
Yee said she did not remember restarting the discussion and maintained that she had supported Michelle.
Neither woman has publicly indicated that they have repaired the relationship.
The precautions during K. Michelle’s recent visit underscored how unresolved that tension remains.
