Rapper Fatman Scoop experienced a ‘medical emergency’ onstage and was promptly taken to the hospital.
The 53-year-old artist, known for his skills as a hype man, was performing in Hamden, Connecticut, when he suddenly collapsed in the DJ booth.
During his performance, Isaac Freeman III, better known as Fatman Scoop, was engaging with the crowd.
A video shared on social media captures the moment medics rushed to assist him following the collapse.
Scoop is heard energizing the audience, shouting ‘let’s make some noise!’, before moving towards a DJ booth at the back of the stage.
He continues to hype the crowd, saying: “I said Hamden let’s make some noise.”
After climbing the stairs into the DJ booth, he appeared to be breathing heavily into the microphone.
He tried to keep the energy going by addressing the crowd, saying: ‘If you came to party…’ followed by a long pause, and then added: ‘Make some noise,’ though his speech was slurred.
Immediately after, he collapsed behind the DJ booth, alarming the audience.
Other performers onstage attempted to calm the situation by speaking to the crowd after the collapse.
One performer said: “We’re having a good time,” and continued: “Hamden make some noise for me.”
This attempt at keeping the crowd entertained received lukewarm applause, leading the artist to remark: “It is what it is. We come here to party.”
Emergency responders were quickly seen attending to Scoop at the back of the stage.
Another video shows someone entering the DJ booth to turn off the music, bringing the venue to a hush.
Hamden mayor Lauren Garrett later confirmed that Fatman Scoop had a ‘medical episode’ while performing, stating: “We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”
He was subsequently transported from the venue to a hospital. No further details regarding his condition have been shared.
