Travis Scott, the world-renowned rapper, was recently arrested on charges of ‘disorderly intoxication and trespassing’ in Florida. The incident took place in Miami-Dade County, and Scott, legally named Jacques Bermon Webster, was taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center early Thursday morning around 4.35 am, according to court records. He was arrested earlier that night at 12:44 am at the Miami Beach Marina. The 33-year-old rapper posted a $650 bond, breaking down to $500 for the trespass charge and $150 for the disorderly intoxication.
It’s still uncertain if Scott has been released from custody.
Despite his recent legal troubles, Scott has remained in the public eye, even addressing his arrest in a terse tweet on his official X account, simply stating ‘Lol’ on Thursday. This comes after a confrontation in Cannes the previous week with Tyga, the ex-boyfriend of Kylie Jenner. Scott has had a sporadic relationship with Jenner, the founder of Kylie Cosmetics, since 2017, though they are not currently together.
Just last year, Scott was involved in a major legal battle following a tragic incident at his Astroworld concert in 2021. Ten fans tragically died, and thousands were injured in a devastating crowd rush during the event attended by over 50,000 people. The victims’ ages ranged from nine to 27, with many deaths caused by asphyxiation as concertgoers were crushed in the crowd.
The aftermath of the Astroworld tragedy left Scott ‘distraught,’ he said in a statement. Despite the backlash and the global impact of the event, he was cleared of all criminal charges by a Texas grand jury last June. His lawyer, Kent Schaffer, stated that Scott never encouraged harmful behavior and expressed that the jury’s decision was a ‘great relief’ to his client. Schaffer emphasized, “Travis is not responsible. Bringing criminal charges against it will not ease their [the victims’ families] pain.”
