Princess Love has finally spoken out after the arrest of her estranged husband, Ray J.
Having been married for ten years, the R&B artist and Love called it quits for the fourth and final time in February 2024. The couple, who have two children together, are currently navigating the divorce process.
When they announced their permanent separation, Love expressed in a statement: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our decision to divorce. After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged, and it is in the best interest of both of us to part ways.”
She added: “We want to reassure you that this decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being. While our relationship as spouses may be coming to an end, we remain committed to co-parenting our children and maintaining a positive and supportive family dynamic.”
Despite Love’s commitment to maintaining a ‘supportive family dynamic’, tensions seem to have escalated between the ex-couple, as highlighted in a dramatic livestream on Thanksgiving.
The footage, obtained by TMZ, reportedly captures Ray J declaring it to be ‘the worst Thanksgiving in the f**king world’.
“Ain’t nobody taking my kids away from me on Thanksgiving,” he was reportedly heard saying.
Ray J also allegedly mentioned someone was making ‘threats’ towards him, subsequently displaying the ammunition for his firearm.
The video cuts to the moment Love enters the room, reportedly to collect the children. A fierce argument unfolds, during which Ray J appears to accuse his estranged wife of being intoxicated.
Love is heard assuring him she wasn’t driving and then claims he ‘just pulled a gun at us’.
Later that night, Ray J was taken into custody and reportedly charged with making a criminal threat.
According to TMZ, his bail was set at $50,000.
Princess Love has now responded to the incident through a video on Instagram, seemingly verifying that it was her and Ray J in the footage.
“I’m not going to let him deflect and make it about me, or make it seem like I was drunk. That was not the case,” she affirmed.
She further alleged that Ray J brandished a gun at her and her cousin’s husband as they attempted to take the children and leave.
“I agreed to come over there and cook for Thanksgiving because I wanted you to be around your kids with me present because the last time they were left with you they found you naked in bed with a woman,” Love explained.
She urged her estranged husband to ‘take accountability’ and ‘do better’, going so far as to suggest he check into rehab.
Representatives for Ray J have been approached for comment.
