These photos from the production of Disney’s 1951 classic Alice In Wonderland are just wonderful. Alice’s real-life inspiration was 10-year-old Kathryn Beaumont, who was also the voice for both Alice and Wendy in Disney’s Peter Pan.
The photos show her in various poses you’ll remember from the cartoon. They’re a testament to just how much time and talent was put into classical animation at the Disney studio, where artists produced on average 23-24 seconds of animation per week.
In case you’re wondering, after her childhood career at Disney, Beaumont went on to become an elementary teacher, a career that spanned thirty years.
She was named a “Disney Legend” by the Walt Disney Company in 1998.
