Amber Eggers, a season-two cast member of WeTV’s “Love After Lockup,” died September 3 in an Atlanta hospital after her heart stopped during a sudden health crisis, her mother confirmed.
Monica Eggers, the reality star’s mother, said that her daughter had been admitted only days earlier with serious symptoms before acute liver failure took her life. Medics were unable to revive her once her heart stopped, Monica explained, though no further details about the exact nature of her condition were disclosed.
The 41-year-old’s death came barely a month after she revealed on Facebook that she had suffered a stroke. In an August 5 post, she wrote:
“I just had that mini stroke and my bday. What better time th[an] the present.”
Her health struggles had stretched back more than a year. In May 2025, her sister Erin Hyndman launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover mounting medical costs, sharing at the time:
“I’m reaching out today with an update and a heavy heart to ask for your help. Many of you know Amber is one of the kindest and most big-hearted people you could ever meet. Right now, she needs all of that strength for the fight of her life.”
Erin disclosed in that same post that Amber had been hospitalized with “severe pneumonia and a bacterial infection in her blood,” and that her condition had “became critical.” Days afterward, Erin delivered more encouraging news: Amber had been moved out of intensive care and started physical therapy in an effort to “regain strength in her legs to be able to walk again.”
Amber’s path to reality television began in 2019, rooted in a prison romance with Vincent Gonzalez that developed while she served a four-year sentence for drug trafficking. The pair became engaged while both were still incarcerated, though the relationship ended after her release. During her time behind bars, she also forged a close connection with fellow inmate Michelle “Puppy” Deaton, and the two later appeared together in cameo roles on spin-off series “Life After Lockup.”
Following news of her death, the “Love After Lockup” franchise issued a joint statement with WeTV on Instagram September 4. It read:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Amber Eggers, an original and unforgettable member of the Love After Lockup family. She was a bright light, who shared her life story with courage and authenticity, and we are honored to have been a part of her journey over several years.”
The statement added: “Our hearts are with her family and friends who held her close.”
Amber leaves behind a mother who spoke to press, a sister who once rallied online support, and a body of unscripted television that traced the contours of a life marked by incarceration, illness, and brief public visibility.
