Reality TV star explains why she was speeding after being arrested on suspicion of DUI

Lindsie Chrisley has addressed her May 23 arrest.

The podcaster was arrested Saturday night at 10:25 p.m. on several alleged violations, including eluding police, improper passing, reckless driving and speeding, and DUI less safe. Under Georgia law, a person can be charged with DUI even if their blood alcohol concentration is below 0.08 grams.

According to People Magazine, Chrisley was processed at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and later posted bail, being released early the following morning.

In an interview with TMZ, Chrisley, 36, shared her account of what led to the traffic stop.

“I got pulled over speeding past a car on a two lane road because they almost hit an animal and I was trying to miss hitting them and whatever the animal was,” she said.

She also told TMZ she intends to contest the allegations.

Chrisley previously appeared on the USA Network series Chrisley Knows Best with her father, Todd Chrisley, stepmother Julie Chrisley, and her siblings. The show aired for nine seasons from 2014 to 2023.

In 2022, Todd and Julie were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison after being convicted of wire fraud and conspiracy charges, NBC News reported. Their sentences were later reduced.

Under three years after their sentencing, the pair received pardons from President Trump. In a video posted on X, he told Savannah and Grayson Chrisley: “Your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope we can do it by tomorrow.

“Is that OK? We’ll try getting it done tomorrow, so give them — I don’t know them — but give them my regards and wish them well. Wish them a good life.”

Lindsie is largely estranged from Todd and Julie. Entertainment Weekly reported last fall that the relationship had fractured well before the family’s legal issues became public.

Following the end of the series, Lindsie has continued her work in podcasting with The Southern Tea.
