Rebel Wilson makes honest admission about her body and gives update on using weight loss drugs

Rebel Wilson has opened up with followers about a personal realisation from her weight loss journey.

The Pitch Perfect actor, 46, began a new health-focused push in 2020 and has regularly shared progress updates with fans online.

Wilson has previously spoken about how her body type shaped the roles she was offered in Hollywood — saying she was typically cast as the ‘fat funny friend’ rather than the ‘love interest’.

She has also explained that she was encouraged to lose weight after being told it could improve her chances of conceiving, as she hoped to start a family.

“I went to see a fertility doctor, and he was like, ‘You’d have a much better chance with fertility if you were healthier,’” she said on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

“It really hit me hard because I was living a fantastic bigger life.”

The comedian has said she lost 34.9 kg (77 pounds) while navigating that fertility process. Speaking on Apple Fitness+’s Time to Walk more than a year into her wellness journey, Wilson said: “It just made me think: ‘OK I should take it a bit easier on myself, and just do it gently and do it lightly’. So in 2020, I lost weight but very, very gradually.

“Sometimes I kicked up things a notch with some workouts and went hard. But, the majority of the work for the year was just doing things like walking for an hour,” she said, as per the outlet.”

Now, Wilson has shared another update touching on body image via Instagram Stories. In the March 31 post — a photo of her in a sports bra and shorts — she wrote: “I don’t think I’ll ever had a bikini body — that’s just not me.”

She followed it by adding: “But my body has carried me through this life and I am so grateful for it!”

In another slide, she said she’s still keeping up with daily movement and structured workouts, while aiming to make healthy food choices. “I’m trying to get in my daily steps, do a Pilates class once or twice a week, some strength training when I can, eat as healthy as I can,” she wrote.

The The Deb director also addressed using GLP-1 medication as part of her approach. “But let’s face it I love sweets so I need those GLP’s [sic] from time to time to give a little help.”

Medications such as semaglutide (sold under the names Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (more commonly known as Mounjaro) were initially approved to treat diabetes.

They affect how the pancreas regulates insulin, and they’re also known to make people feel full more quickly while eating.

In recent years, these drugs have also been used more broadly for weight management beyond their original purpose, including among high-profile figures.

Wilson — who is mom to three-year-old daughter Royce and is currently expecting another child via surrogate — also reflected on balancing it all, saying: “Being a working Mum, you just try your best! Shout out to everyone trying to be the healthiest versions of themselves while dealing with a LOT.”
