Angie Katsanevas is speaking out about her split from Shawn Trujillo.
The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star, 52, confirmed’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast that viewers will see her separation from Trujillo, 55, unfold when Season 7 premieres later this month. “There are some separations” in the upcoming episodes, she said, promising fans will “watch it all play out” when the show returns.
“I’ve been amazed at how many people are curious as to what’s going on in my personal life,” Katsanevas told the podcast while promoting her new role as host of the “GoDaddy School of Hustle” podcast. “The viewers fall in love with you, and your family, and your story.”
Multiple sources confirmed in July that the couple, who wed in 1999 and share 15-year-old daughter Elektra plus their Lunatic Fringe Salon business, had separated after 27 years of marriage. Despite the romantic split, Katsanevas emphasized that their bond remains intact in other ways.
“Shawn and I are business partners, we’re family, we’re husband and wife of 30 years, we’re best friends,” she said. “Obviously, we are loving parents, and everything we’ve done, we have done together, and we will continue to do everything together moving forward.”
She added that the season will show extensive discussion of “the process” and “what the future looks like for us.”
Their daughter’s wellbeing has remained stable through the transition, according to Katsanevas. “Nothing has changed for her,” she explained. “We’re very present, loving parents. I think she just feels loved and supported and very strong and confident in who she is and who her parents are, and that she is surrounded by love.”
The support from her castmates has proven more uneven. Katsanevas praised Heather Gay and Mary Cosby for standing by her after news broke, but singled out Lisa Barlow and Meredith Marks for what she viewed as insensitive behavior.
Days after Katsanevas’ separation became public — and shortly after reports said that co-star Whitney Rose, 39, and husband Justin Rose, 58, were also “living separate lives” — Barlow posted a loved-up photo with husband John Barlow. Marks, meanwhile, wrote on Threads about the “irony in karma,” which fans interpreted as shade toward the two couples’ marital troubles.
Katsanevas found the timing particularly galling given that children were involved. “I think when children and families are involved, that’s really nothing to make a post about,” she said. “You can hold your thoughts to yourself, or better yet, release a post in support of families, marriages and people with children.”
She continued: “I think there’s a time and a place; I think it’s important to support your castmates when they’re down.”
The rift appears to have deepened since: Katsanevas said she has not heard from either Barlow or Marks since her separation went public.
The Salt Lake City franchise has seen significant cast upheaval this summer, with the Roses’ split following Katsanevas and Trujillo’s separation to create overlapping personal crises among the ensemble. Katsanevas described Barlow and Marks’ posts as “poor timing” and “heartless,” making clear she expects different standards of conduct when families are in turmoil.
The seventh season will mark the first time Katsanevas navigates her changed marital status on camera, though she and Trujillo’s continued business partnership and co-parenting arrangement suggest the storyline will focus on redefinition rather than rupture.
