Two teachers from Georgia have been accused of engaging in sexual relationships with students at the school district they were employed in, stirring considerable controversy and concern among parents. Railey Greeson and Brooklyn Shuler, both employees of Calhoun City Schools, faced charges on Thursday (4 July) for allegedly engaging in sexual activities with three students over a span from October 2021 to January 2022.
According to the indictment reviewed by 11Alive, Greeson is accused of having sexual relations with two male students from October 29, 2021, to January 3, 2022.
Meanwhile, Shuler’s charges involve sexual relations with another male student during the same period. Both women are charged with sexual contact by an employee or agent in the 1st degree.
Following the publicization of these charges, parents have begun speaking out. Audrey Decker, a parent whose stepdaughter attends the school, expressed her concerns to the New York Post, noting, “I’m not trying to stereotype, but you could look at them and tell they were trouble.” She added, “They just seemed boy-crazy. And everyone in the school knew it and joked about it.”
Another parent shared similar observations, stating, “Ugh, they were flirts. You should have seen them with any attractive parents who came to the school. They would flirt with any of the dads.” This parent described their behavior as overtly flirtatious, involving “laughing too loud, getting too close,” and generally trying to appear “cute” and “shameless.”
The relationship between Greeson and Shuler reportedly spans several years, with Greeson having served as the maid of honor at Shuler’s wedding in November 2022, a few months post the alleged incidents. Railey Greeson was arrested last week. Shuler referred to Greeson as her ‘best friend’ and ‘ride or die’ on the wedding site. Shuler then reciprocated by being a bridesmaid at Greeson’s wedding in October 2023.
The charges suggest that both women ‘reasonably should have known’ the students were enrolled in the school district. Details regarding any direct interactions with the students within their professional roles remain undisclosed, as does the age of the male students involved.
Following their arrests, both former staff members were booked into the Gordon County Jail and later released on bond, as reported by the Gordon Gazette. If convicted, they could face up to 25 years in prison or fines up to $100,000.
