With Rihanna announced as the headlining performer for the yearly NFL event, the Super Bowl Halftime show in 2023 is guaranteed to be a must-see event. Rihanna teased her participation on Sunday by releasing a picture of her instantly identifiable tattooed hand clutching a football on Instagram.
The NFL announced in a press release that the “We Found Love” singer had been chosen to perform at the prestigious Halftime show. State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona will host the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show on February 12.
The information was also confirmed by Roc Nation, the Jay-Z-founded entertainment company in charge of scheduling acts for NFL halftime shows.
“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” Jay-Z said in the announcement Sunday. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”
Despite not having released an album since 2016, Rihanna is still a major force in the music business. Rihanna is certain to thrill football’s greatest night with a repertoire spanning two decades and singles including “Umbrella,” “Diamonds,” “Disturbia,” “Don’t Stop the Music”, and numerous others.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage. Rihanna is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career. We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”
The most recent Super Bowl, which included musicians including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, received five nominations for Creative Arts Emmys and took home three of them.
