A ring girl who participated in the Jake Paul vs Tyson Fury event witnessed a significant surge in her social media followers after the boxing event.
Sydney Thomas saw her followers nearly double after the bout on Friday, November 15, where Paul, aged 27, defeated boxing icon Tyson, who is 58.
Fans had eagerly anticipated the clash between former heavyweight champion Iron Mike and the YouTuber-turned-boxer, Paul.
The showdown took place on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, with Netflix broadcasting the event.
Ultimately, Tyson succumbed to Paul, 27, via a unanimous decision from the judges after eight 2-minute rounds.
Reflecting on the fight, Tyson stated: “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful. No regrets to get in the ring one last time.”
He added: “I almost died in June. Had eight blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.”
“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”
Despite the focus on the boxers, viewers at home also took notice of ring girl Sydney Thomas.
Thomas’ Instagram following quickly increased from 236k to over 555k within a few days.
After the fight, she expressed her gratitude: “Getting the opportunity to step into the ring with Mike Tyson and Jake Paul for such a historic fight is something I never imagined I’d be able to say.
