‘Riveting’ Netflix mini-series hailed as ‘surpassing Game of Thrones’ while rising in TV rankings

Fans of Netflix are highly engaged with a mini-series that has been watched for nearly 32 million hours, receiving rave reviews as a ’10/10′ experience.

With an extensive library of over 5,000 movies and 2,500 TV series, it’s easy to overlook a standout title on the popular streaming service.

This show is particularly appealing to Game of Thrones enthusiasts, with many viewers drawing comparisons to the acclaimed HBO series.

Since its debut on October 8, the historical drama has accumulated more than 31.6 million hours of viewing, according to data from FlixPatrol.

It currently ranks as the fourth most-watched Netflix series globally, based on the platform’s streaming metrics.

The narrative unfolds in 16th-century France, introducing Pio Marmaï as Néro, a disillusioned contract killer who, after being betrayed by his influential master, learns of a daughter he never knew existed.

When Néro’s long-lost child, Perla (Lili-Rose Carlier Taboury), is targeted by merciless enemies, they are forced to escape across a harsh, war-ravaged landscape.

During their journey, Néro faces challenges from Rochemort (Louis-Do de Lencquesaing), his former employer; La Borgne (Camille Razat from Emily in Paris), a one-eyed witch; Hortense (Alice Isaaz), Rochemort’s daughter; and Horace (Olivier Gourmet), a monk who provides refuge for Perla.

As events unfold, Néro must choose between his own survival and redemption, discovering that Perla’s secret might change the world’s destiny.

The series is titled Néro the Assassin.

Although it currently holds a 6.7 rating on IMDB, viewers believe it merits a perfect score.

One viewer described it as ‘Game of Thrones but better,’ stating, “Absolutely loved this piece of art. The characters, the plot, the scene… it has that GoT vibe but better!”

They went on to say: “It doesn’t drag on unnecessarily and there’s always something happening in every scene. It’s the kind of show that you can’t wait to watch the next episode.

“I really hope there’s a sequel!”

Another viewer concurred: “All ingredients for a nice adventure… For fans of Game of Thrones, which I have seen three times, this is a must-see.”

In contrast, a third viewer offered a critique: “The conflicts reminded me of Game of Thrones sometimes, but the characters could have been developed a lot more.”

Another enthusiastic fan rated it 10/10, calling the show ‘a fine medieval sorcery French period adventure with excellent characters and cast’.

They further praised it for having ‘the best English voiceovers I’ve ever heard…Seamless work’.

The conversation continued on X, previously known as Twitter, where one individual commented: “Guys if you have not watched this series you’re missing out. Nero the Assassin, 10/10!”

“Fantastic series,” another said. “Wanted to watch one episode – binge watched the whole thing.”

Netflix has yet to announce a second season for the action drama, and it may be some time before we know its future.
