Roseanne Barr Says She Loved Making Out With Married Co-Star Randy Quaid and Wishes He Would Leave His Wife

Roseanne Barr has openly declared her on-set affection for co-star Randy Quaid.

Barr, 73, told the Hollywood Reporter in a Q&A published Monday that she fell for Quaid, 76, while filming their new comedy series “Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable,” in which the pair play husband and wife. The comedian went so far as to say she wants him to end his 37-year marriage to wife Evi Quaid, 63.

“I’m in love with him and I wish he would leave his wife and marry me,” Barr said in the interview.

Her infatuation apparently translated directly into the production. Barr added that she enjoyed their on-screen intimacy so much that she actively expanded it.

“I enjoyed making out with him so much that I wrote extra scenes where we would make out,” she continued.

Earlier this month, Barr had already previewed the physical nature of their collaboration in an interview Hollywood. She described the project as containing “romantic, passionate and overwhelming love scenes” between herself and Quaid. She also cracked a joke about the footage finding a secondary market.

“The extras are gonna be released on OnlyFans,” she quipped, before adding, “I’m kidding.”

The pairing of Barr and Quaid carries its own Hollywood symmetry. Both performers have weathered significant controversies throughout their careers. Quaid and his wife Evi made headlines in 2010 when they claimed to be targets of “Star Whackers,” a purported secret cabal they alleged was responsible for the deaths of fellow actors David Carradine and Heath Ledger. Evi later doubled down on those claims, saying in 2018 that “Everything we have said about being bugged, hacked and tracked has been proven true.”

In “Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable,” Barr plays the matriarch of a mixed-race family of doomsday preppers based in Austin, Texas. The plot follows her character’s mission to throw her granddaughter an elaborate bat mitzvah while simultaneously battling a criminal empire. The cast includes Drea de Matteo as her daughter, Omar Gooding as her son-in-law, and guest appearances by Jon Lovitz and Tony Hinchcliffe.

Barr’s Hollywood Reporter Q&A also touched on her fractured relationships with former “Roseanne” colleagues. She revealed that John Goodman, who played her on-screen husband Dan Conner for the sitcom’s original run, declined to make a cameo in “Meemaw.” She also confirmed she is no longer in contact with Laurie Metcalf, who portrayed her sister Jackie Harris.

The subject of Barr’s relationship with her former co-stars has been particularly raw in recent weeks. Last month, she engaged in a public dispute with Michael Fishman, who played her son D.J. On “Roseanne,” after he stated that the 2018 cancellation of the show’s reboot over her racist tweets was justified. Barr responded on the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast by calling him a “brainwashed bigot.”

“Nobody is more brokenhearted than me,” Barr commented on the estrangement from her former castmates. “I just choose to remember the fun and the good times.”

Quaid and Evi have remained married since 1989, weathering both their “Star Whackers” claims and various legal troubles over the decades.
