Russell Brand Criticizes Katy Perry’s Connection with Justin Trudeau at Turning Point USA Event

Russell Brand has shared his thoughts on his former spouse Katy Perry’s new relationship with Justin Trudeau, and it seems he’s not entirely pleased.

The 50-year-old comedian, currently facing trial for several rape accusations he denies, spoke about his past marriage to the pop star during a Turning Points USA event in Phoenix, Arizona. He mentioned that Perry’s mother was present in the audience.

During the event, the actor from “Get Him to the Greek” incorporated a stand-up routine about Perry’s recent romance, which began in July, three months after Trudeau, 53, stepped down from his role as Prime Minister of Canada.

“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I’m glad that her mom’s in the room to hear me say this,” Brand addressed the crowd, before exclaiming, “But look, I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau?”

This remark drew some laughter from the attendees at the TPUSA event, held in Charlie Kirk’s hometown.

Brand and Perry were married for two years from 2010 to 2012 before their split over ‘irreconcilable differences.’ Following their separation, Perry commented, “He’s a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him. Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.”

Four years later, Perry found love again with actor Orlando Bloom, a comparison Brand was comfortable with.

In recent times, Brand has shifted towards a conservative Christian viewpoint, being baptized again in 2024. This followed an investigation by the “Times,” “Sunday Times,” and “Channel 4” in the UK, where five women accused him of sexual assault.

With his new perspective, Brand felt compelled to criticize Perry’s new partner, the former Canadian PM.

“Come on, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge,” Brand remarked, receiving little response. He then added, ‘Alright, praise Jesus,’ which elicited laughter from the audience.

Despite Brand’s on-stage jabs, Perry’s relationship with Justin Trudeau seems to be thriving. The couple made their first official public appearance at a cabaret club in Paris in October, following several months of dating.

In July, a source revealed to People that the two had begun dating after an ‘instant connection.’

The source explained, “She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common. Both are idealists and still live in a world where they think they can make improvements, although it has gotten more difficult.”
