Ryan Reynolds has at last disclosed the gender of his and wife Blake Lively’s fourth child, following months of speculation.
Reynolds, 47, known for his role in Deadpool, and Lively, 36, famous for her role in Gossip Girl, got married in 2012 after first meeting on the set of Green Lantern in 2010.
Two years later, the Hollywood couple announced the birth of their first daughter, James, who is now nine years old. In 2016, they welcomed their second daughter, Inez, who is now seven.
In 2019, they revealed the arrival of their third daughter, Betty. Last February, the family quietly welcomed their fourth child.
During the New York City premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine on July 22, Reynolds revealed the name of their youngest child, Olin, but did not specify the gender.
“I want to start by saying thank you to my wife Blake, who is here,” he remarked while on stage at the Marvel film’s debut.
“I want to thank my kids James, Inez, Betty, and Olin, who are here.”
“I hope that, if I’m lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing — that is, the contents of this movie — that happens in your wondrous life. I love that my entire family is here.”
A few days later, Reynolds emotionally announced in an interview that their one-year-old child, Olin, is a boy.
In a video posted to Instagram, the Fall Guy star met with mental health advocate John Bell, whose son, Jake, was a big fan of Deadpool before his passing.
To honor Jake’s memory and to thank Bell for co-founding Walking 4 Hope, the father-of-four arranged for a team makeover for Bell to resemble the comic book anti-hero.
After hearing about Bell’s struggle with grief following Jake’s death, Reynolds expressed his gratitude for Bell’s candidness in sharing his story.
“I want to share with you that I too have a son,” the actor continued.
“And that if boy, John, if I love him 1/10 as much as you love Jake, I feel like I’ve done a pretty damn good job.”
Following the release of the heartfelt video, many fans have come forward to congratulate Reynolds and Lively on their son.
“Beautiful story and cause! Also why is no one mentioning how in this video Ryan revealed him and Blake had a boy,” wrote one Instagram user.
Another fan commented: “Not all heroes wear capes. John Bell is indeed a Hero to me. Ryan Reynolds has ALWAYS been one in my eyes, as well.”
“This just made me emotional,” added another fan. “Wow. What a devastating journey, and to be able to come out stronger just shows how much you grow as an individual every day!! ((Also, awww yayyy a little boy joined your team!! Badass!”
