Samsung has stirred up its rivalry with Apple following the latter’s announcement of its latest iPhone models, the iPhone 17 and the iPhone Air, during a highly anticipated event.
Every September, Apple holds its annual product launch, and this year, the spotlight is on the sophisticated iPhone 17 and the groundbreaking iPhone Air. The iPhone Air stands out as Apple’s thinnest smartphone to date, with a thickness of just 5.6mm.
“Our intention was to make an iPhone that feels like a piece of the future, powerful, yet so thin and light it seems to disappear in your hands,” the company stated regarding the new device.
Despite its slim design, the iPhone Air is claimed to be Apple’s most robust model yet, featuring a ceramic shield encased within a titanium frame on both sides.
The iPhone 17 is set to be available in five colors: lavender, mist blue, black, white, and sage.
In addition, Apple has introduced the updated AirPods Pro 3 and a refreshed lineup of Apple Watches.
Although there’s much excitement among tech enthusiasts, Samsung doesn’t seem to share the sentiment about Apple’s ‘awe-dropping’ event.
Samsung Mobile US addressed the buzz around Apple’s new releases by retweeting a cutting post it originally shared three years prior.
Having established itself as a leader in the foldable smartphone arena, Samsung offers various foldable models, like the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold series; these employ a layer of Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) for seamless folding. Samsung launched its foldable series back in 2019.
During the 2022 launch of the iPhone 14 series, Samsung had cheekily posted: “Let us know when it folds.”
Apple has yet to venture into the foldable smartphone market, known for its avant-garde appeal.
The same social media account revisited the 2022 post with another sharp jab, accompanied by #iCant. The updated post read: “#iCant believe this is still relevant. [skull emoji]”
To date, the post has received over 300,000 views and more than 6,300 likes.
Apple supporters rallied behind their favored brand, with one user commenting: “Why do u think folding is a flex lol.”
Another remarked: “You’re so cooked Samsung bro.”
Yet another declared: “Apple will forever be better than you guys.”
However, some individuals appreciated Samsung’s approach. “Honestly enjoying Samsung tweets,” one user admitted in the comments.
Beyond the standard iPhone and Air, Apple is also launching the Pro and Pro Max models, both of which supposedly feature the ‘best camera system [Apple has] ever made’.
The front-facing camera includes an 18-megapixel center stage camera, complemented by three 48-megapixel cameras on the rear. There’s a 4x zoom at 100 millimeters and an extensive 8x zoom at 200 millimeters. The Tetraprism telephoto lens boasts an enhanced image stabilization system.
