Scarlett Johansson addresses husband Colin Jost’s ‘crude’ NSFW joke about her on SNL

Marrying a comedian often means accepting the likelihood of being the subject of their humorous routines.

This was something Scarlett Johansson discovered unexpectedly when she was referenced during a segment on Saturday Night Live (SNL) featuring her husband, Colin Jost.

Jost has been a writer for SNL for 20 years and tied the knot with Black Widow actress Johansson in 2020.

He is particularly recognized for his role in the ‘Weekend Update’ segment, which he co-hosts with fellow comedian Michael Che.

In the segment, the duo exchange jokes that neither sees beforehand.

Recently, Che asked Johansson for permission to be mentioned, and she agreed, not knowing how bold the jokes would be.

The segment in question, aired on December 21, captured Johansson’s reactions on camera.

Her response quickly spread online, capturing the genuine surprise of the actress.

One joke that particularly shocked Johansson was regarding her anatomy.

Referring to the child he shares with Johansson, Jost joked: “Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from their menu. But I ain’t tripping. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.”

While aware of a potential joke about her anatomy, neither Johansson nor the audience anticipated it would be this candid.

Johansson later elaborated on her reaction while appearing on TODAY With Jenna & Friends earlier in the week.

Host Jenna Bush Hager mentioned the amusing SNL segment aired the previous month.

“It got so vulgar,” Johansson commented as Bush Hager remarked that much of the segment couldn’t be shown due to its risqué nature, unsuitable for daytime TV.

Johansson noted that she had been forewarned about being mentioned and the jokes’ nature, expressing to the SNL team: “I don’t want to get canceled or divorced. Those are my boundaries.”

Describing what it felt like when the jokes were delivered and she was filmed, the Marriage Story actress said: “Honestly, Jenna, I felt like it was like To Catch a Predator when the lights kind of came on me and suddenly there was a whole audience.”

Fortunately, she had a ‘very stiff cocktail’ in her hand at the time, she humorously added.

Emma Stone, who was also present at the SNL studio, described the jokes as ‘not OK’.

“My heart was racing, my eyes were watering, my hands were [shaking]. It was very surreal,” Johansson recalled of the experience.
