Science reveals the world’s most stunning dog

We all have our personal biases when it comes to our dogs, believing them to be the most beautiful of all. However, experts have attempted to scientifically determine the most beautiful dog breed.

While breeds like the Golden Retriever and Poodle are often thought of as particularly attractive, surprisingly, they did not make it to the top ten in this list.

Though beauty is subjective, the ‘golden ratio’ provides a mathematical approach to defining aesthetic appeal through specific measurements.

The same golden ratio that has placed Zendaya, Jodie Comer, Bella Hadid, and Ariana Grande among the most beautiful women has also been applied to rate the attractiveness of dogs.

In the realm of men, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lucien Laviscount, and Paul Mescal have been recognized as among the most handsome based on this formula.

This same mathematical ratio has been used to evaluate dog breeds, too.

Researchers at money.co.uk have analyzed various popular dog breeds using the golden ratio to determine their beauty.

The closer a breed’s features align with the golden ratio, the higher its beauty score.

According to York Press, here’s the list of the top ten most beautiful breeds based on their golden ratio percentage:

10) Pembroke Welsh Corgi – 83.9 percent

9) Norfolk Terrier – 84.3 percent

8) Italian Greyhound – 84.9 percent

7) Tolling Retriever – 85.0 percent

6) Weimaraner – 85.6 percent

5) Welsh Terrier – 85.9 percent

4) Rhodesian Ridgeback – 86.0 percent

3) Border Collie – 86.7 percent

2) West Highland White Terrier – 87.5 percent

1) Cairn Terrier – 88.7 percent

Conversely, breeds such as the Shih Tzu, Bulldog, and Rottweiler ranked lower on the list.

Salman Haqqi, a pet insurance expert at money.co.uk, commented on these findings, stating: “Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and regardless of the ranking position of a dog’s breed, every dog no matter its shape or size should be appreciated.

“One of the most important ways to care for any dog is to make sure it is fully insured so that any unforeseen expenses can be easily taken care of, allowing you and your pets to enjoy your time together without worry.”
