Sean “Diddy” Combs’s spokesperson fired back at reports that the rapper is living a privileged existence behind bars, insisting he serves his sentence “within the rules.”
The statement came after four anonymous former inmates at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey said that Combs, 56, pays others to cook, clean, and even massage him during his 50-month term. The men claimed the three-time Grammy winner enjoys curry chicken, pizza, and empanadas prepared secretly by fellow prisoners rather than eating standard prison fare.
“This is not some normal s–t you see in jail. This is some rich s–t,” one of the men said. “It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”
The same source alleged that Combs initially relied on one cook before expanding his roster. “After a while, I got tired of cooking,” said the man, who claimed to have prepared meals for Combs and other inmates. “He started going to the Jamaicans,” the man added.
The former inmates also alleged that Combs pays others to clean his toilet and shower area. Beyond food and cleaning, the sources described a lifestyle that included Chinese-style massages.
NBC News obtained photos and videos showing Combs inside the prison. One video allegedly captured the “I’ll Be Missing You” emcee using a contraband cellphone. Sources told the outlet he uses the device to scroll Instagram and view nude and sexually explicit photos sent by an old girlfriend.
The reports also described access to premium alcohol allegedly smuggled in by guards and shared among a small group of inmates. “Hell yeah, I drank with him,” one inmate recalled, claiming he drank Hennessy with Combs.
The Bureau of Prisons declined to address Combs’s specific conditions, citing “privacy, safety and security reasons.” A spokesperson acknowledged broader challenges, stating, “Like all correctional agencies, contraband, particularly cell phones, narcotics, and weapons, remains a constant challenge, and we continue to tackle the problem of contraband being introduced into our facilities.”
Combs’s representative pushed back hard in a statement. “The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news,” the spokesperson said. “The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence within the rules and he patiently awaits the court’s decision on his appeal.”
The spokesperson’s emphasis on the pending appeal underscores ongoing legal efforts even as Combs serves his sentence. He was convicted last July on two counts of transportation for prostitution and sentenced to 50 months behind bars. Following his time at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, he was transferred to the federal prison in Fort Dix.
The allegations of special treatment follow a pattern of public fascination with Combs’s incarceration that has generated steady coverage since his conviction. The former Revolt co-founder, once among the most prominent figures in hip-hop, now faces scrutiny of everything from his meals to his alleged phone habits.
The claims about antidepressant drugs and a secret liquor stash, if accurate, would represent serious breaches of prison protocol. The Bureau of Prisons statement about contraband challenges did not confirm or deny any specific incidents at Fort Dix.
Combs is slated to be released from prison on Jan. 21, 2028.
