Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison release date has shifted again, this time moving earlier to Feb. 5, 2028.
The new date, posted by the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, marks the latest change in the 56-year-old rapper’s scheduled freedom. Combs, the three-time Grammy winner behind hits like “I’ll Be Missing You” and “Act Bad,” has seen his release date bounce multiple times since his incarceration.
The date had most recently sat at Feb. 20, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website earlier this month. That later date itself had replaced a Jan. 24, 2028 release that was set in July, reports said with the bureau at that time.
The July move came after Combs got into a physical altercation with another inmate at Fort Dix. Reports said that month that the rapper “took matters into his own hands” after being dissed by a fellow prisoner. Multiple sources told the outlet that the two men scuffled and pushed each other during the heated confrontation.
“Combs reportedly ‘held his own’ during the altercation,” an insider alleged to the outlet at the time.
Prison staff separated the men and placed Combs in solitary confinement following the fight. By August, reports said that he had been released from that solitary status and returned to the general population.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has refused to discuss specifics of Combs’ case or housing situation. “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not release information regarding the conditions of confinement for any inmate, including housing assignments, nor do we discuss whether a particular inmate is the subject of allegations, investigations, or sanctions,” the bureau said in a statement.
Combs landed at Fort Dix after being transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. He is currently serving a 50-month sentence handed down following his trial last July, when a jury found him not guilty on two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and on racketeering conspiracy. The “I Need a Girl” hitmaker was convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution.
The dad of seven continues to face dozens of civil lawsuits with accusations spanning sexual assault, drugging and trafficking. Combs has maintained his innocence throughout the legal proceedings.
The release date fluctuations have tracked closely with the reported disciplinary incident. The initial July move from Feb. 23, 2028 to Jan. 24, 2028 came right after news of the fight broke. The subsequent push to Feb. 20, 2028 and now the adjustment to Feb. 5, 2028 suggest ongoing administrative reviews of his conduct and time credits.
Combs’ legal team has not publicly addressed the latest date change. The Revolt co-founder remains entangled in both his criminal sentence and the wave of civil litigation that continues to mount against him.
