Selma Blair is now admitting she bit three major celebrities years before her alleged mid-flight attack on Sunday.
The “Cruel Intentions” star, 52, detailed her history of biting in her 2022 memoir “Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up,” where she named Sienna Miller, Seth MacFarlane, and Kate Moss as past targets. The revelations surfaced after Blair was arrested Monday at John F. Kennedy International Airport following an incident on a Delta flight from Cancun, during which she allegedly bit one flight attendant, punched another, and tried to open the plane door mid-flight.
Blair traces the behavior to feeling overwhelmed in social settings. “My system gets overwhelmed and instantaneously short-circuits…In my life, social interactions have been cumbersome,” she wrote in the book.
The first incident she describes came in 2006 at West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont, where she encountered fellow actress Miller. “I couldn’t begrudge her for any part she was winning over me,” Blair wrote. “So, I grabbed her arm and bit it, playfully, as if it were an apple. Even as I held her forearm in my mouth I was aghast at myself. I thought, What have I gotten myself into? Or her? This is horrible behavior.”
Miller responded without shaming her, Blair recalled, labeling her “the belle of the ball” for her reaction.
Two years earlier, in 2004, Blair bit MacFarlane at a Las Vegas club after Scarlett Johansson invited her to a gathering there. Blair, who has been open about past struggles with alcoholism, wrote that she became “starstruck” when introduced to the “Family Guy” creator.
“What do I do in public situations where I admire someone, but feel as if I don’t bring anything to the party? I bit him on the hand. ‘Whoa!’ he yelled. ‘That really hurt.’ It wasn’t a disaster; I didn’t break skin. But I soon hated myself,” she wrote.
The third named victim was Moss, whom Blair bit during a post-show gathering in a London hotel suite following a Marc Jacobs fashion show. The two had been taking Polaroid pictures together when Blair decided to bite the supermodel’s finger.
“And because she laughed, I did it again,” Blair wrote. “The second time, she did not laugh and exclaimed, ‘That really f–king hurt!'”
Moss then punched Blair in the back and grabbed her thumb, Blair recounted. “‘and crunched right into it.'”
“This was the first time I had any inkling of how much I might hurt people when I bit them,” Blair continued. “Immediately, I transformed into a shamed nursery school kid. ‘Oh my gosh,’ I whispered, ‘I am so sorry.'”
The actress was put in restraints on Sunday’s flight and arrested upon landing. A 911 dispatch captured the pilot reporting that the “disruptive passenger” had “bashed her head on the bulkhead,” Sources said Blair also allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head while being transported to the hospital, then assaulted a nurse once admitted, with that nurse pressing charges.
Blair’s representative said, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.” The actress, who is in remission from multiple sclerosis, also had a plane meltdown a decade ago, sources noted.
Delta responded with a statement Monday: “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.” The FBI has opened an investigation into the incident. Blair faces multiple charges including two counts of assault for the alleged kicking and nurse attack, plus separate charges for the in-flight conduct.
Sources said the charges remain pending as the investigation continues.
