Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill appear to be collaborating again, after a YouTuber seemingly stumbled onto their set in Los Angeles and interrupted filming.
A video uploaded by vlogger Yung Mooch shows him approaching the two actors while they were seated on scooters and apparently in the middle of shooting a scene for an unannounced project. The clip was posted on July 24 and appears to have been filmed in Venice Beach, where production has recently been spotted for Rogen’s Apple TV+ series The Studio, which has been renewed for a second season.
Rogen and Hill have a long history of working together on screen. Their early collaborations include The 40-Year-Old Virgin in 2005, followed by roles in Knocked Up and Superbad in 2007, before later appearing as fictionalized versions of themselves in This Is the End in 2013.
If the production is what it seems, it could mark the first time the pair have been seen together in a project since 2016’s adult animated comedy Sausage Party.
Because no public announcement has been made about a joint project, the filming likely was not intended to draw outside attention.
That may explain why Rogen did not seem pleased by the interruption.
In the footage, as Mooch gets close to the actors, Rogen can be heard saying: “No! We’re working.”
Mooch continued anyway and even managed to fist bump Hill while Rogen kept trying to move him along.
Still pressing on, the YouTuber asked Hill: “Any advice you got to anybody trying to make it in LA?”
Hill replied: “Just enjoy your life, be a kind person.”
Mooch then turned to Rogen with the same question, prompting the actor and producer to respond: “I would say, don’t f*** with people while they’re trying to make their show. That’s probably not a good idea.”
After lingering a little longer and continuing to ask for more, Mooch eventually got a shorter answer from Rogen: “Be yourself.”
As he walked away, the vlogger appeared pleased with the exchange and told his camera: “Look at this, y’all. We just caught a mid-movie production. This is Los Angeles right here.”
From the clip, it did not seem like Mooch realized Rogen was rebuking him, or that he had interrupted an active production, something that can be costly when filming is underway.
Online reaction was critical, with several viewers calling out what they saw as disrespectful behavior.
One person commented: “Seth immediately says we’re working and ask to stop interrupting and he continues to do so. No manners what’s so ever. Wanted the clip but ended up being bad publicity.”
Another wrote: “bro you can tell seth and jonah dont want you there.”
A third added: “I heard Mooch p***** off Jonah Hill and Seth Roger this video LMAOOOO.”
Someone else pointed out: “Wow you randomly ran into Seth Rogan!”
Another joked: “LOSER!!! Buddy got shut down by Seth Rogan and Jonah Hill because he wanted to try and get an interview…. both told him to kick rocks.”
