Several Individuals Injured, Including National Guard Members, Prompting White House Lockdown

A shooting incident has occurred just a few blocks from the White House in Washington DC, resulting in two National Guardsmen being wounded.

According to police reports, a suspect is now in custody. Reuters has indicated that the White House has gone into lockdown following the incident.

Officials have informed the BBC that three individuals have been transported to the hospital, but their current condition remains unknown.

“The White House is aware and actively monitoring this tragic situation. The President has been briefed,” stated Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took to X to express her concern, saying, “Please join me in praying for the two National Guardsmen who were just shot moments ago in Washington DC.”
