Shia LaBeouf has made a mysterious post on his social media following an arrest in New Orleans.
Authorities confirmed that the 39-year-old Transformers actor was taken into custody, stating he allegedly hit someone with ‘closed fists’.
According to court documents referenced by Variety, LaBeouf was apprehended on suspicion of two counts of simple battery occurring in the French Quarter of New Orleans early Tuesday.
An eyewitness shared their experience on social media, stating: “Can someone please do a story about how Shia LaBeouf is literally terrorizing New Orleans during Mardi Gras because we had a run in with him last night and someone really needs to get that guy some help.”
Following the incident, the police provided a statement.

The police statement indicated: “Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf who used his closed fists on the victim several times.” It further mentioned: “The victims reported that LaBeouf left, but then came back, acting even more aggressive.”
The statement continued to claim that LaBeouf had allegedly ‘assaulted another person’ by ‘punching him in the nose’.
It concluded: “LaBeouf was again held down until police arrived.”
After his arrest, LaBeouf took to social media to share a message, though it did not clarify the events that unfolded.

In response to the media coverage surrounding his arrest, he wrote on social media: “Free me.”
Details regarding the events leading to the incident remain unclear, but reports suggest LaBeouf had been removed from a venue shortly before.

LaBeouf has previously talked about his journey to sobriety following a lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs in 2020, which accused him of abuse.
The case was resolved out of court in 2025, with LaBeouf acknowledging at that time his history of abusive behavior towards himself and others. He said: “I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations… I am not cured of my PTSD and alcoholism, but I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way.”
This recent altercation took place during the Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans on ‘Frat Tuesday’, marking the end of the celebrations and the start of Lent.
Representatives for Shia LaBeouf have been contacted for a statement.
An attorney for the actor could not be reached at this time.
