Shia LaBeouf speaks out about ‘failed’ marriage with Mia Goth

Shia LaBeouf has spoken candidly about his relationship with Mia Goth, saying he “failed” in their marriage and reflecting on how difficult that period became.

The 39-year-old addressed the couple’s efforts to repair their relationship in an interview on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, stating that, at one point, they were “deeply unhappy.”

Shia explained: “You got to deal with that and God puts that on your heart for a reason.

“And I feel like it’s not new heartbreak. I don’t want to talk too much about it. It’s not my story alone to tell but my side is, you know, I failed my marriage, and so I had to own up to that.”

He went on to describe issues he says occurred earlier in their relationship, before they tried to start a family, and said trust had been broken.

Shia continued: “I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have a baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way.

“We tried… to fix it, and it was impossible, and we both became very unhappy. And it’s not good to be unhappy around a baby. It’s not good to be unhappy around kids.

“But it’s important to be proximate. You must be around. And this became quite a weird Tetris.”

LaBeouf also spoke positively about Goth, with whom he shares their three-year-old daughter, Isabel, and said they are now focused on making co-parenting work.

Shia was quick to praise Mia, who he shares three-year-old daughter Isabel with, adding: “That’s a good girl.

“That’s one of the best girls that ever lived. She’s incredible, that woman. Incredible… all the time. 10 out of 10.

“We’re in a good spot. I mean, this isn’t new… We’ve been there for a while, we’re trying to figure out co-parenting, and we’re good. Even through all this, she gives me grace.”

The two first began dating in 2012, married in 2016, and separated in 2018. They later reconciled in 2020.

Separately, LaBeouf was arrested on February 17 following an alleged incident outside a business on Royal Street in New Orleans, where he is accused of striking two people.

It is alleged he was removed from the venue after a disturbance during Mardi Gras.

The New Orleans Police Department said in a statement: “Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf who used his closed fists on the victim several times. The victims reported that LaBeouf left, but then came back, acting even more aggressive.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, one anonymous bartender claimed that LaBeouf was ‘terrorizing the city’, while another alleged that the actor ‘asked three times’ if he could use his credit card at their bar.

However, a bar owner in the city offered a different account, saying: ‘he was here, and he was totally chill’.

LaBeouf was arrested again over the weekend and faced an additional battery count, though it has not been confirmed whether the new charge is linked to the earlier alleged incident near Royal Street and R Bar.
