The husband of Brazilian singer Luna Alves has opened up about his last moments with his wife before her unexpected death in their Cuiabá apartment.
Luna, aged 39, tragically passed away on Sunday, August 10, shortly after performing a show with her spouse, Guilherme Schreiner, earlier that night.
Post-concert, Luna appeared to be in high spirits and took to Instagram to share a video message with her followers.
In her post, she expressed her gratitude, stating that she was ‘going to sleep’ but wanted to first ‘thank God immensely, from the bottom of my heart, for the gift of life, for the gift of [her] voice’.
“I am truly grateful,” Luna said, as translated by Soap Central. “Only Him, only Him and I, deep within. And the people who work with me, and the contractors, friends, partners, the people who like my work.”
“It’s great that you do work where people praise you, where people like what you do,” Luna continued. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart… I received so many compliments, so many good things, so many requests granted today.
“I just have to thank you. And that’s it. May God bless you and me. Kisses.”
Schreiner shared with G1 that after the concert, the couple watched videos together and then went to sleep.
He mentioned Luna was ‘doing great’ around 1:40 am, but by 5:10 am, he ‘heard her feeling unwell in bed’.
“[I] got up to call emergency services. The doctor stayed on the line with me, helping me. Emergency services didn’t stay long, but unfortunately, they pronounced her dead,” Schreiner reported.
According to G1, Luna’s death certificate indicates that she suffered a heart attack.
Following her passing, many have paid tribute to Luna, including a poignant message from her daughter.
“I love you forever, mom. My Lucinha,” her daughter wrote.
Schreiner also paid homage to Luna on social media, writing: “I lost a woman, I lost a partner. I just ask God for strength to be able to carry on. I love you.”
In an interview with G1, Schreiner shared that Luna was not only a singer but also worked in administration at an agro-industrial company. He noted that her employers supported her musical aspirations, commenting: “She had this dream of being recognized nationally, but she also made it clear that she would be happy just singing, regardless of where she was.”
