Sorority student’s viral smiling mugshot reappears as she allegedly gives wild response to police during second arrest

A sorority member who gained online fame for her cheerful mugshot has disclosed the unusual circumstances behind her second arrest.

Lily Stewart, a University of Georgia student, captured attention when her striking mugshot was released by law enforcement following a recent speeding charge. Her appearance, which was uncharacteristically glamorous for a mugshot, along with her smiling demeanor, earned her nicknames like ‘Miss America’ and ‘mugshot shawty’ on social media platforms.

However, the viral sensation has since encountered legal issues again, facing charges of allegedly obstructing a law enforcement officer and loitering/prowling, according to records from the Athens-Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a police report accessed by TMZ, officers responded to an intrusion alarm around 3am on Sunday (March 23), discovering Stewart and three other individuals at the scene.

When law enforcement approached, the group attempted to flee, but all were swiftly apprehended except for Stewart, who concealed herself behind a brick wall near the campus football stadium.

Upon questioning, Stewart explained to police that she fled because she “didn’t want to get caught doing anything bad because I am out on bond right now.”

She further admitted: “Was it the trespassing? Truly that was actually my fault.”

The arresting officer noted in the police report that there were no signs of alcohol consumption, and another person in the group mentioned they were merely trying to return to their sorority.

Since the allegations are misdemeanors, Stewart was released shortly after her arrest, having posted a $4,600 bond.

Following her initial arrest, Stewart has been sharing some amusing social media reactions she received, with many speculating humorously about her reason for speeding.

One commenter quipped, “She was tryin to get the last pumpkin latte of the season,” while another suggested, “Must have been a sale at Lululemon.”

A third commented, “That smile says my daddy is an attorney,” and another added: “Your honor, she was just trying to get to brunch for bottomless mimosas.”

In a fortunate turn for Stewart, her attorney has confirmed to TMZ that the speeding charge has been dismissed.

“I didn’t know you could get arrested for speeding, but when he put those handcuffs on, I just shut up,” Stewart recounted.

“I was like, ‘I’ll just go to the jail with you. I’ll figure it out’, because I was scared.”
