Fans of South Park were recently taken aback by a particularly risqué joke featured in the popular animated series.
Known for its sharp satire and mockery of public figures, South Park has previously targeted celebrities such as Lizzo and the Jonas Brothers.
However, a recent episode took aim at Donald Trump, suggesting that the former president had a ‘small penis’.
The White House quickly responded to the episode, which some fans described as ‘the ballsiest thing that [South Park’s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone] have ever done’.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers commented to Rolling Stone: “The Left’s hypocrisy truly has no end – for years they have come after South Park for what they labeled as ‘offensive’ content, but suddenly they are praising the show.”
Rogers further stated: “Just like the creators of South Park, the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows. This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.
“President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history – and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”
Yikes.
Trey Parker addressed the situation at Comic-Con International in San Diego, expressing (somewhat ironically) that they were ‘terribly sorry’ about the incident, which elicited laughter from the audience.
During the airing of the controversial episode, Parker and Stone faced some resistance from Comedy Central regarding the depiction of the fictional president’s anatomy. The network’s only comment was about potentially blurring it.
Comedy Central initially planned to blur the depiction, but Parker insisted that it remain unpixelated.
Parker recounted his conversation with the network, saying, “if we put eyes on the penis, we won’t blur it”, a discussion which reportedly lasted four days, as noted by Variety.
South Park isn’t the only show that has recently drawn the ire of the White House. Joy Behar from The View was also criticized by the administration after she made comments suggesting that Trump was ‘jealous’ of Barack Obama.
Responding to her remarks, the White House stated, according to The Independent: “Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
