South Park enthusiasts discover concealed reference to Taylor Swift in new episode

Could the creators of South Park be secretly fond of Taylor Swift?

Despite previously making fun of her, no one anticipated the small nod to the pop star in the latest episode of the show.

Some time ago, South Park featured Swift in a Season 18 episode with Bill Cosby, where the duo performed ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ during the holiday season.

Initially, she is shown in a trailer for the special with Cosby and declines a drink. On stage, Eric Cartman has a dispute with YouTuber PewDiePie, while Cosby persuades Swift to have a drink, and then approaches her.

Given that the show is now in its 27th season, it’s been a while since they referenced the ‘Bad Blood’ singer, but they’ve done so again in a very understated manner.

Fans of Swift picked up on her mention in the most recent episode just before the launch of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.

The episode, titled ‘Conflict of Interest,’ aired on a Wednesday night (September 24) and featured Kyle being upset with his friends as they use a market prediction app to bet on whether his mom will bomb a hospital in Gaza. The app allows users to make predictions and even place money on their guesses.

However, Kyle discovers that Donald Trump Jr is the app’s strategic advisor, who suggests he contact the FCC, which is ‘handling all the offensive content now.’

Brendan Carr plays the FCC’s chairman, and both President Donald Trump and Satan appear in the episode. Staying current, the show also references Jimmy Kimmel, who was suspended from his ABC show the previous week.

Nonetheless, many fans were intrigued by Swift’s brief mention on the market app.

This occurs when two school students wager on Kyle’s mom, then scroll down to a bet involving the 35-year-old singer, which questions: “Will Taylor Swift release a new album this week?”

Ultimately, 15 percent believed she would release an album, while the remainder thought she wouldn’t. This speculation comes just before Swift’s album release on October 3.

Social media users noticed the reference and were thrilled, sharing their excitement widely.

One individual commented: “TAYLOR SWIFT MENTION IN SOUTH PARK,” while another remarked: “Taylor Swift reference in the new episode of South Park.”

Additionally, someone else stated: “Taylor Swift in an all-new #SouthPark episode, Conflict of Interest.”

This season of South Park has been particularly bold in addressing political figures, notably President Trump, and the previous episode has intensified the creators’ ongoing dispute with him.
