Considering the current state of world affairs, it is understandable if recent news has you thinking about apocalyptic scenarios.
In a recent development, a space weather expert has sounded an alarm about a potential ‘catastrophic geomagnetic disaster’ that could impact the entire planet.
This ominous message ties into the discussion around Earth’s ‘disaster cycle’.
Ben Davidson, who is known for founding Space Weather News, shared his dire forecast during an appearance on the Matt Beall Limitless podcast.
According to Davidson, we could face events such as tsunamis, climate upheavals, and even a mass extinction event.
The scale of the predicted event is immense, with the potential to eliminate up to 90 percent of life on Earth.
Davidson attributes this forecast to a rapid shift in the planet’s magnetic poles, potentially initiated by a solar ‘micronova’.
If you’re unfamiliar with the term ‘micronova’, you’re not alone.
Davidson’s theory is not widely accepted within the scientific community.
A ‘micronova’ refers to a sudden eruption on the sun, but few experts endorse this idea.
Despite the skepticism, Davidson stands firm, describing his theory, rooted in the geomagnetic cycle, as ‘bulletproof’.
He stated, “This is a near extinction-level event, and we are in the middle of it right now!”
Davidson detailed that such cycles occur approximately every 6,000 years.
He added that a more severe event happens every 12,000 years, reassuring us that we’re not currently in that phase.
Additionally, Davidson noted a weakening of Earth’s magnetic field by up to 15 percent since the 1800s.
Previously, auroras were rare at lower latitudes, he observed.
Nowadays, these auroras appear more frequently, occurring ’15 to 20′ times in just a few years, according to Davidson.
“We’ve probably seen 15 to 20 of these events. So, we’ve gone from, you know, one to three every decade to more than 10 in just a couple of years,” said the expert.
“What the sun is throwing at Earth to trigger those lower latitude auroras is far smaller than what it used to take as we look back into the past.”
Davidson interprets this as an indication of a failing magnetic shield.
He explained to the Daily Mail, “Everything we expect to see is unfolding now, confirming we’re not just due for this event, it’s happening, and it’s a massive threat.”
Davidson speculates that the catastrophic event could occur within the next 10 to 25 years.
He mentioned that we are overdue for a geomagnetic storm, with the last significant one occurring in 1859.
The 1859 event disrupted telegraph systems and caused fires. In today’s world, it could damage power grids and disrupt water and food supplies.
Davidson warns, “Within three days, there’s no gasoline at the pump. There’s no food at the store.”
“Everything we expect to see is unfolding now, confirming we’re not just due for this event, it’s happening, and it’s a massive threat that almost no one is addressing,” he added, suggesting that information might be withheld to prevent ‘panic’.
