Staggering sum Mike Tyson is set to earn from Jake Paul fight despite defeat

Mike Tyson is reportedly set to earn a significant amount from his highly-anticipated fight against Jake Paul, even after being defeated by the social media influencer.

The duo faced off at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night, November 15, after the fight was initially postponed for four months.

Originally slated for July, the match was delayed due to a medical emergency Tyson experienced.

However, the 57-year-old former world heavyweight champion recovered and got in shape to take on the 27-year-old former YouTuber, marking his first bout in nearly two decades.

The eight-round match went the full distance, with the judges scoring it 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73, leading to Paul’s victory by unanimous decision.

Given the intense excitement surrounding their legendary encounter, it’s no surprise that both Tyson and Paul are earning substantial sums from the event.

While the precise figures of their earnings from this boxing match haven’t been disclosed, estimates have been made public.

According to reports from USA Today and The New York Post, Tyson is expected to earn millions despite his loss – a substantial amount indeed.

Tyson’s friend, former UFC champion Henry Cejudo, claims that Tyson will earn $20 million from the fight.

Meanwhile, Paul hinted at his own earnings during an August news conference for the fight’s promotion.

The social media personality expressed his ambition: “I’m here to make $40 million and knock out a legend.”

The disparity in their potential earnings might be surprising at first glance, but Paul’s company, Most Valuable Promotions, collaborated with Netflix to produce the event, which could explain why his earnings are double Tyson’s for his behind-the-scenes contributions.

It’s noteworthy considering the fight was sanctioned with shorter two-minute rounds and heavier boxing gloves than usual.

Before the match, Tyson, the renowned boxer, appeared confident, claiming that Paul was “in a lot of trouble.”

“He can say whatever he wants. In the ring is where the party begins and he’s finally going to party with the big boys,” Tyson stated.

Paul’s record before facing Tyson was 10-1, with seven knockouts. His sole loss occurred in early 2023, when he was defeated by Tommy Fury, half-brother of Tyson Fury.

Nevertheless, the former YouTuber was determined to defeat Tyson, declaring, “I fear no man. I want him to be that old savage Mike.”

“He says he’s going to kill me, is that what you’re going to do?… I want there to be no excuses when I knock him out,” Paul added.

If you missed the excitement, or wish to experience it again, Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is currently available to stream on Netflix.
