Stranger Things Creators Criticized Over Response to Future Season Queries

The creators of *Stranger Things* have sparked controversy among their fanbase with remarks made in an interview following the show’s conclusion.

After a decade, *Stranger Things* has wrapped up, leaving a split among fans regarding its ending. While some viewers felt the series concluded satisfactorily, others believe there are unresolved elements.

Following the release of the Netflix series’ final episode on New Year’s Day, discussions about the show have been rampant. Some argue that the narrative was neatly concluded, while others insist there are lingering threads that deserve attention.

The frenzy over the show’s conclusion even led to a social media theory about a secret episode that was supposed to release a week later, although this was quickly debunked.

The show’s creators, Ross and Matt Duffer, have further stirred up dissatisfaction with recent comments about the series’ finale.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, they discussed the potential for the show to return.

Ross stated, “I feel like this season really, truly does close the door on this story, on the story of Hawkins, and the story of the Upside Down and the story of these characters.”

He added, “I guess never say never. [Maybe] in 20 years, if we’re all broke and need some money, and we’ve all talked about it.”

Ross also mentioned the show as a safety net for him and Matt.

Fans have criticized these remarks, expressing frustration over the idea of creating more *Stranger Things* content not from a place of creativity, but due to financial necessity.

One user on X commented, “This is like the number one thing you do not say in an interview.”

Another added, “yeah because we all can’t wait to return to the show we loved because you guys have no money left after you ruined the finale we waited 10 years for… yeah that sounds great!”

A third person wrote, “’All the art here is long gone but we might consider making some nostalgia slop for idiots down the road’.”

An additional disgruntled fan clung to the hope of ‘secret episodes’, stating, “If those secret episodes don’t come out to fill in all of the potholes & twists that the fans have noticed, then these two will really go down in History for being some of the worst writers to f*** up their show in the end. And they’ll most likely have the same fate as GOT writers.”
