A content creator is facing backlash after hosting a peculiar stream aimed at generating revenue.
Known as Lacy online, Nick Fosco boasts approximately 1.9 million followers on Instagram. Recently, he leveraged the platform in an attempt to boost his income.
Influencers with substantial follower counts typically earn through advertising, sponsorship deals, and direct payments from social media platforms themselves.
Individuals who aren’t initially famous can grow their audiences by creating captivating content that attracts viewers and consequently, advertisers eager to promote their products.
While this approach works for many, Fosco seemed to overlook the importance of ‘engaging’ content. Instead, he focused on directing people to his Twitch stream in his latest online post.
But what content was he offering in this stream?

He planned to stream himself while sleeping.
“I am going to do a sleep stream once a month,” he announced, “where I am going to sleep on stream with max ads running”.
In a peculiar twist, he didn’t even want his followers to actively watch him sleep. Instead, he asked them to keep the tab open at a low volume to exploit a loophole.
“I need all of you guys to tab me open on your computers with 1 percent volume and just leave it on the whole night, no ad blocker, nothing.”
He continued: “Once a month I’m doing a sleep stream, I need y’all to just help me out one time and help me pay my rent.”
The streamer mentioned that viewers could also sleep while the stream was on. This would count towards higher viewer numbers, influencing how platforms calculate payment for streams.
Many questioned the rationale behind the idea if viewers weren’t truly engaged with the content.
Several users expressed their disbelief and skepticism in the comments section on social media.

One commenter tried to empathize but found the tactic ‘shameless’, saying: “Like⦠I get rent being high, but asking fans to run ads in their sleep to cover it feels kinda shameless.”
Another sarcastically critiqued the concept of getting paid for sleeping, stating: “No idea who this is but I just have to stream myself sleeping once a month and I’ll make thousands of dollars?”
Others suggested more practical solutions for financial struggles.
“Look at the size of that massive room, I am sure rent isn’t cheap,” someone noted. “I would love to see the rest of the house.”
They added: “Maybe it’s time to turn it down a notch or two and live within his means?”
Representatives of Nick Fosco have been contacted for comment.
