Streaming Options for ‘Independent’ Call of Duty Film Following Paramount’s Live-Action Movie Announcement

If you’re eagerly anticipating the release of Paramount’s live-action movie adaptation of the Call of Duty franchise, there’s a documentary you can enjoy in the meantime.

The live-action film adaptation of the beloved gaming series was recently announced, and while details on the plot or cast remain undisclosed, we know that Paramount is working on bringing Call of Duty to the big screen.

David Ellison, the chairman and CEO of Paramount, expressed his excitement, saying, “As a lifelong fan of Call of Duty, this is truly a dream come true. From the first Allied campaigns in the original Call of Duty, through Modern Warfare and Black Ops, I’ve spent countless hours playing this franchise that I absolutely love.

“Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly.”

Activision president Rob Kostich also commented: “Throughout its history, Call of Duty has captured our imagination with incredible action and intense stories that have brought millions of people together from around the world, and that focus on making incredible Call of Duty games remains unwavering.

“With Paramount, we have found a fantastic partner who we will work with to take that visceral, breathtaking action to the big screen in a defining cinematic moment. The film will honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started.”

While it will likely be several years before the live-action film hits theaters, you can dive into the Call of Duty world through a documentary currently available on Prime Video.

The 2017 ‘independent’ documentary, CODumentary, explores how Call Of Duty evolved into one of the most successful entertainment franchises globally. According to the creators, it narrates “an incredible story of how the video game Call Of Duty grew into becoming one of the biggest global entertainment blockbuster franchises of all time.”

The documentary provides insights from YouTubers who are fans of the game and former developers who contributed to its success.

You can rent CODumentary on Prime Video for $4.99, and physical copies are also available for purchase online.
