Stunning Scene: 758-Meter Bridge Crumbles Just Months After Launch

A dramatic video has emerged showing the collapse of a 758-meter-long bridge in southwest China.

The Hongqi Bridge is located in Maerkang City, Sichuan, and is a part of National Highway 317, which connects the province to Tibet.

The bridge partially collapsed on Tuesday, November 11, according to Chinese authorities.

The incident occurred after cracks were detected on the slopes and roads on the bridge’s right bank, as reported by China Daily.

A landslide caused a section of the bridge to give way and crash to the ground, sending clouds of dust into the air.

This footage quickly gained traction and went viral online.

Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported.

Thanks to the defects being identified on Monday, November 10, authorities acted swiftly to close the site.

By 11pm on that date, the bridge had been evacuated, including all stranded vehicles, and warning signs were put up along with traffic notices, according to Sichuan Daily.

Currently, there is no information on when the highway will reopen.

More details to follow.
