Haley Joel Osment recently found himself in legal trouble at a ski resort.
The actor, famous for his roles in movies such as The Sixth Sense, Pay it Forward, Forrest Gump, and his latest work Blink Twice, was apprehended by local police while at a ski lodge in Mammoth Lakes, California, on April 8.
Following his arrest, he has been charged with two misdemeanors, as reported by the Office of the District Attorney County of Mono on April 17.
The statement provided by the District Attorney reads: “District Attorney David Anderson announced that Haley Joel Osment, 37, was charged today with two misdemeanors arising from his arrest by the Mammoth Lakes Police Department at Mammoth Mountain on April 8, 2025.
“Specifically, Mr. Osment was charged with a violation of Penal Code Section 647(f) – Disorderly Conduct: Under the Influence of Alcohol in Public, and Health and Safety Code Section 11350(a) – Possession of Cocaine.”
Osment is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment on July 7 at the Mammoth Lakes branch of the Mono County Superior Court.
Bodycam footage from the day of Osment’s arrest has been made public, capturing the moment officers informed the 37-year-old that he was being arrested for public intoxication.
“I’m not fighting you,” Osment is heard saying as he was escorted towards the police vehicle.
During the arrest, police discovered a $20 bill containing a substance. A source from the police department previously informed PEOPLE that the ‘controlled substance’ involved is believed to be cocaine.
“We sent it for testing. We will have the results soon,” they mentioned.
In footage recorded while Osment was in the back of the police car en route to the station, he made a comment about being ‘kidnapped by a f**king Nazi,’ a remark for which he later expressed regret.
Osment released a statement to PEOPLE, acknowledging that his language was ‘disgraceful’.
“I’m absolutely horrified by my behavior,” Osment expressed. “Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner.”
He continued: “The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place.”
Osment’s home was destroyed in the wildfires that swept through parts of California earlier this year, affecting many celebrities.
“But that’s no excuse for using this disgusting word,” he added. “From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage – I’ve let the Jewish community down and it devastates me.
“I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.”
