Donald Trump’s most recent approval rating has been disclosed following his confrontational remarks towards Iran amid the ongoing conflict involving Israel.
Since his inauguration, Trump has seen a decline in his approval ratings, largely attributed to policies that have left some citizens questioning their support for his presidency.
Right after assuming the presidency, Trump implemented measures such as prohibiting trans women from participating in female sports and serving in the military. Additionally, he supported Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency in reducing thousands of federal jobs.
Adopting an America First policy, Trump has forged numerous international agreements, maintaining strong support for Israel amid its tensions with Palestine and, more recently, Iran.
Not everyone has supported his policies, leading to a 7 percent drop in his approval rating from February to April, following numerous executive orders.
Research from Pew indicated that only 40 percent of respondents approved of Trump’s performance, with many expressing dissatisfaction over his tariff increases.
His recent threats to Iran have further amplified public discontent with his actions.
An Economist and YouGov poll, held from June 13 to 16, revealed that 54 percent of voters disapprove of Trump’s overall performance, with 41 percent expressing approval.
Regarding his approach to Iran, only 37 percent approved while 41 percent disapproved.
Additionally, 60 percent of those surveyed, including 53 percent of Trump voters, believe the nation should steer clear of involvement in the conflict.
Reacting to the expected ratings, Trump stated: “There was a poll that just came out today. My approval rating is the highest it’s ever been.”
Following Iran’s response to Israel’s surprise missile strikes last week, Trump adopted a more aggressive posture.
He issued a stern warning to Iran, urging them to negotiate a nuclear deal with the US, following Israeli airstrikes in Tehran since June 13 without US intervention.
In retaliation, Iran launched missiles, some penetrating Tel Aviv’s Iron Dome defenses.
Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, cautioning Iran against continued aggression, threatening further strikes.
The president urged Iran to agree to a nuclear deal with the P5+1 nations—comprised of the US, UK, Germany, France, China, and Russia—who have been negotiating with Iran on its nuclear ambitions since 2006.
Online, Trump asserted: “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’ Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”
In a subsequent post, Trump elaborated: “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
In another message, he simply stated: “Unconditional surrender.”
