Susan Boyle replies to Timothée Chalamet’s surprising remark about her

Scottish singer Susan Boyle recently expressed her surprise after being mentioned by Timothée Chalamet in an interview.

Boyle, now 64, gained worldwide attention with her appearance on the UK show, *Britain’s Got Talent*, in 2009. Her rendition of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from the musical *Les Misérables* astounded viewers who initially underestimated her aspirations of achieving success comparable to Elaine Paige.

In a recent interview with BBC News, 29-year-old actor Timothée Chalamet included Boyle in his list of favorite Britons. The list also featured names like Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton, former footballer David Beckham, his wife Victoria Beckham of the Spice Girls, and rapper Fakemink.

Chalamet reminisced about Boyle’s impact, saying: “She dreamt bigger than all of us,” referring to her performance on *BGT*. “Who wasn’t moved by that? I remember that like it was yesterday, that was like the advent of YouTube, you know?”

In response to Chalamet’s comments, Boyle took to Instagram, stating: “This has been so incredibly touching to read. I’m very flattered, @tchalamet. Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me.”

Boyle shared further thoughts, writing: “We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big! I wish you every success as you continue to dream your own dream.” She ended her message with gratitude, “Thank you for your kindness and for remembering that moment so fondly,” signing off with ‘with love, Susan.’

At the time of Boyle’s rise to fame, Chalamet was just 13. He was asked about his preferences while promoting his new film, *Marty Supreme*.

Boyle’s performance brought renewed interest in stage musicals, and despite finishing second on the show, she released her debut album later that year, breaking records as the UK’s fastest-selling debut.

*I Dreamed a Dream* was nearly the top-selling album in the US for 2009, narrowly missing out to Taylor Swift’s *Fearless*. Since then, Boyle has released eight studio albums, holds three Guinness World Records, has received two Grammy nominations, and amassed an estimated fortune of $29.5 million.

Chalamet’s upcoming film, loosely based on tennis legend Marty Reisman, is scheduled for a Christmas Day release and has been recognized as one of the year’s top films by the American Film Institute.
