The police are currently interrogating an individual as part of the investigation into the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 4, at 6:46am when Thompson was shot outside the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan, New York.
Authorities have released footage showing the alleged shooter, and it has been confirmed to NBC News that a person has been brought in for questioning in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Video evidence captured the moment when an armed individual approached Thompson from behind and opened fire.
The footage shows Thompson collapsing to the ground, while the assailant escapes the scene on an electric bike.
During a press conference on Wednesday, New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that the attack appeared to be ‘premeditated, preplanned,’ with the shooter seemingly ‘waiting for his intended target’.
Paulette Thompson, Brian’s wife, informed NBC News that her husband had been receiving threats and that words such as ‘deny,’ ‘defend,’ ‘delay,’ and ‘depose’ were discovered written on the shell casings.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Kenny commented: “Based on the evidence we have so far, it does appear the victim was specifically targeted. But at this point, we do not know why.”
Alongside the footage, police have also shared additional images of the suspect, urging the public for assistance and offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Sources have disclosed that a man has been brought in for questioning.
The individual was apprehended by authorities at a McDonald’s in Altoona after behaving ‘suspiciously’.
This person reportedly had a gun that resembled the one used in the shooting of Thompson, along with a silencer, according to sources.
Authorities believe that Thompson’s suspected shooter arrived in New York in late November, staying in a Manhattan hostel under the alias ‘Marc Rosario.’
Two senior law enforcement officials informed NBC News that the man picked up for questioning was also found with a fake Nevada Jersey ID bearing the name ‘Marc Rosario’.
This person is of interest but has not been arrested or charged.
A senior law enforcement official mentioned that the authorities are examining the recent activities of the person of interest.
The Thompson family issued a statement: “Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives.”
