Decarlos Brown Jr. has spoken out regarding the suspected reason behind the tragic death of Iryna Zarutska.
On August 22, Zarutska was fatally stabbed while on a train in North Carolina. Surveillance footage has identified Brown as the main suspect, and he faces charges of first-degree murder.
In addition to this, Brown is facing federal charges, and President Trump has expressed that he should receive the death penalty.
Reports indicate that Brown suffers from mental health issues, including a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
Currently detained, Brown has had phone conversations with his sister, Tracey Brown.
In a recorded conversation six days post-arrest, Brown recounted the incident to Tracey.
“I hurt my hand, stabbing her. I don’t even know the lady,” he shared with his sister, according to audio acquired by Daily Mail.
He added, “I never said not one word to the lady at all. That’s scary, ain’t it. Why would somebody stab somebody for no reason?”
Brown also urged authorities to examine the ‘materials’ within him that were seemingly influencing his actions.
Referring to these ‘materials’, Brown suggested a possible motive for Zarutska’s killing: “They just lashed out on her, that’s what happened. Whoever was working the materials they lashed out on her. That’s all there is to it.”
He continued, “Now they really gotta investigate what my body was exposed to. Now they gotta do an investigation as to who was the motive behind what happened.”
Additional details will be provided as they emerge.
