Sydney Sweeney’s dad once watched an episode of Euphoria without forewarning her, and it’s safe to say he wasn’t quite prepared for what he saw…
Sweeney has portrayed Cassie throughout all three seasons of Euphoria, and the newest run of episodes has left viewers stunned.
Cassie, in particular, has been at the center of several intensely explicit scenes in season three, including a moment in Sunday’s episode where Sweeney appears completely topless.
The latest installment also delivered a huge shock by killing off one of the key characters — but to avoid spoilers for anyone still catching up, we’ll keep the name under wraps.
Given how bold Cassie’s storyline can be, it’s easy to imagine not everyone in Sweeney’s family has been eager to tune in.
The 28-year-old has previously said her mom has seen parts of the show after visiting her on the Euphoria set — but her dad didn’t have the same level of context going in.
During an appearance on Sunday Today in 2023, Sweeney explained that her dad and grandfather decided to watch an episode without giving her a heads-up — and she recalled their reactions afterward.
“My mom visited me on set quite a few times, so she knew the story,” she said, noting that her dad, on the other hand, hadn’t been warned at all.
“When I talk to my dad, it’s usually not about work,” Sweeney added. “We talk father-daughter conversations, so he decided her was going to watch [Euphoria] without telling me with his parents.”
Host Willie Geist then asked what their response was once the episode got going.
“My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out,” The Housemaid star said. “But my grandma – she’s a big supporter of mine. She’s a big fan.”
Sweeney went on to share that she brings her grandmother along to sets around the world whenever she can, and even tries to land her little appearances as an extra in her projects.

Although Cassie has been tied to many of the show’s most talked-about moments, not every controversy this season has revolved around her.
Another scene that drew widespread attention involved Jules (played by Hunter Schafer), who was shown being mummified at the request of her sugar daddy, Ellis.
The fetish, often referred to as “mummification,” involves someone deriving pleasure from wrapping another person — or being wrapped themselves.
After the depiction aired, sex educators weighed in with safety reminders for anyone curious about exploring it, with Gigi Engle emphasizing the importance of consent and caution.
“If you’re new to it, looser is better – the wrapping should never squeeze the body,” she advised.
“Be sure you’re not wrapping the face at all, and have safety scissors nearby in case you need to get the person out of the bindings really quickly.”
