Taylor Momsen, known for her role as Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 film How The Grinch Stole Christmas, delighted her fans by revisiting her iconic costume 25 years later.
The actress and musician was just seven years old when she appeared alongside Jim Carrey in the beloved holiday film. Even after a quarter of a century, she shared that her old costume ‘kind of still fits.’
On Monday, December 22, Momsen took to Instagram to share a nostalgic moment with her followers, donning the original outfit. The ensemble featured a red and green patterned dress with festive appliques and a signature red cape.
Though Momsen has clearly grown since her role as Cindy Lou Who, she admitted to getting a bit of help to fit back into the memorable outfit for the holiday season.
With assistance, she managed to wriggle into the dress, adding a tulle petticoat to give the skirt volume, and carefully sliding the puff sleeves onto her arms.
“I’m a little jacked,” she quipped while wrestling with the sleeves.
Her assistant suggested having a seamstress adjust the sleeves to make it easier to wear, a suggestion Momsen said she might consider for the future. For now, she found a solution by wearing the dress off-the-shoulder.
“Can [I] wear it like that?” she asked, showing off the unbuttoned attire.

Pleased with the mostly fitting costume, Momsen completed her look with some glam and slipped back into the nostalgic outfit, sharing the magical moment on her Instagram.
“Yes…that is my real Cindy costume from the Grinch movie 🥰,” she wrote. “25 years later…it still (kind of) fits 🤣 what a surreal holiday season #whereareyouchristmas.”
Fans embraced the nostalgic post, showering Momsen with praise for her willingness to revisit the character after so many years.
“I love that you’re fully embracing this!” one fan exclaimed, while another added, “Oh my gosh I love this 🎄🖤🎄.”
Another follower noted the significance of the moment: “This is incredible, what a surreal full circle moment for you.”
Although the film is a holiday favorite, Momsen is now more widely recognized for her role in Gossip Girl and as the lead singer of the band The Pretty Reckless.
The band even paid homage to her Grinch days recently with a festive rendition of Cindy Lou Who’s song ‘Where Are You Christmas?’
