Taylor Swift and Blake Lively Address Friendship Issues in Unexpected Text Exchange

Recently disclosed text messages have shed light on the conversations between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively, suggesting discussions about their strained friendship.

Blake Lively has been navigating a tumultuous year, primarily due to her legal confrontation with Justin Baldoni. In December 2024, Lively accused her It Ends With Us co-star of sexual harassment and alleged involvement in a ‘smear campaign’ against her.

In the subsequent month, Lively escalated the situation with another lawsuit, accusing Baldoni of harassment and retaliatory actions, citing inappropriate on-set conduct. In response, Baldoni filed a countersuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and the New York Times for defamation. However, this counterclaim was dismissed in June and later completely thrown out in October.

Hundreds of communications, including emails, texts, and depositions, have now been made public. Among them, a text exchange illustrates Lively and Taylor Swift discussing their friendship challenges and potential ways to mend it.

While Swift’s full name isn’t visible in the texts, Lively’s legal team has confirmed her identity in court documents.

The messages, exchanged as Swift was preparing for her final Eras Tour performance, begin with Lively reaching out to Swift.

Lively wrote: “Hey, just checking in. I have no reason to ask, but I dunno, I’ve been feeling like I should… is everything okay?

“I felt like a bad friend lately because I was such a sad sack who only talked about my own issues for months.”

Continuing, she expressed: “I always want the opportunity to be a better friend if there’s something I unintentionally did.

“I know how busy and taxed you are, so I don’t expect any more from you ever. Just want to make sure all is good.”

Swift acknowledged Lively’s feelings, indicating there had indeed been some distance between them.

Swift responded: “No you’re not wrong, but it’s also not a big deal. I think I’m just exhausted in every avenue of my life and in recent months had been feeling a little bit of a shift in the way you talk to me.”

She further described how recent interactions felt impersonal, akin to “reading a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees.”

The conversation concluded with Swift assuring, “You don’t need to apologize. Just come back please.”

Attempts have been made to contact representatives of Taylor Swift for their comments on the situation.
