A guest at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding has responded after her outfit sparked debate online.
The couple married on July 3, 2026, at Madison Square Garden in New York, in a ceremony that was kept largely private despite enormous public attention and a guest list packed with celebrities, friends, and family members.
Among those present was professional dancer Tori Evans, who previously performed with Swift during the record-breaking Eras Tour.
For the occasion, she wore a pale pink dress that soon drew criticism from some people online, who argued the shade appeared too close to white.

Even though the dress was not white, some social media users said it crossed an unwritten wedding guest style boundary.
One wrote: “If you have to explain that ‘it’s not white, it’s pastel/cream/champagne shade],’ then the color is too close to the red line.”
Another posted: “White to Taylor swifts wedding is insane.”
After the reaction spread online, Evans’ husband TJ Shaw stepped in to defend her. He had posed alongside her in photos of their wedding looks and later addressed the controversy on social media.
In a post shared online, he wrote: “DRESS IS PINK CHAMPAGNE color for everyone that doesn’t understand lighting.”
The expectation that wedding guests avoid white has deep historical roots. The custom gained prominence after Queen Victoria wore white to marry Prince Albert in 1840.

White bridal gowns later became linked to ideas of purity, but they also carried a strong association with wealth, since keeping white garments clean was costly and difficult. In turn, that helped cement the tradition that other guests should not wear white, so attention remains on the bride.
Reports about the wedding said the ceremony was officiated by Adam Sandler and included a performance by Stevie Nicks, while details of the day remained tightly controlled.
Guests were also said to have received white embroidered handkerchiefs featuring lyrics from Swift’s song Blank Space.
According to reports, both Swift and Kelce became emotional while exchanging vows, with one part of Kelce’s vows in particular leaving Swift in tears.
The couple are also said to have invited around 1,000 guests, drawing together major names from music, sport, film, and television.
