Moises Garcia, 56, was arrested Thursday morning in a child sexual abuse material investigation that spanned his home and workplace.
The Buena Park Police Department said Garcia was taken into custody around 7 a.m. On suspicion of possessing the material. He teaches at Paramount High School, a sprawling campus in Los Angeles County that splits roughly 3,400 students across two locations to ease overcrowding.
Police have declined to reveal what first drew detectives to Garcia, how long he had been under investigation, or where the alleged material was found. They also have not disclosed which of the school’s two campuses employs him — a West Campus for freshmen and a Senior Campus for grades 10 through 12.
School officials learned of the arrest and are cooperating with the ongoing probe, according to police. The investigation remains active as detectives continue gathering evidence.
Authorities have not indicated whether they believe any students were victimized or whether anyone connected to the school is implicated in the allegations. The tight-lipped approach has left the community with few answers about the scope of the case.
Paramount High School recently earned recognition as a 2026–27 US News Best High School, a distinction that stands in sharp contrast to the criminal investigation now touching its halls. The district has planned since before the arrest to reunify its split campuses by 2027 as a permanent solution to overcrowding.
